Tsunami Imageries

Sunday 26 December 2004, an earthquake in Indonesia measuring at 9.0 on the Richter Scale generated a Tsunami in the Andaman Sea causing disaster to the islands and beach towns and cities of Asia, namely, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Many have lost their friends, relatives, and families to this devastation. It is Asia’s most disastrous event by nature to mankind in this century.

IKONOS satellite captured imageries of areas in the Andaman Sea that were attacked by this Tsunami. Imageries shown below are also provided with the cooperation of the Centre for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing (CRISP) at the National University of Singapore and Space Imaging LLC.

Remark The above footprints include scenes with more than 20% cloud cover. Please inquire with SISEA on the cloud coverage of the desired area.
